Founded in Midwood, Brooklyn in 1925 by Samuel Lemberg, the company has grown from a residential brokerage into a sophisticated investment and development platform that owns over 125 properties in 10 states and the District of Columbia comprising in excess of 3,500,000 square feet with a development pipeline of several million square feet.
Today the company actively seeks to acquire investment and development opportunities in our primary markets of New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
Chief Executive Officer
For the past 35 years, John has grown the company his grandfather started in 1925 and built an integrated management, investment and development platform. He has expanded Midwood’s portfolio to over 125 retail, residential and office properties in 9 states and the District of Columbia. Beyond Midwood, John’s philanthropic interests are primarily focused in education and the arts. He is a Trustee Emeritus of Wesleyan University, past chair of Wesleyan’s Capital Campaign and was previously Chair of the Brandeis International Business School. John is currently a Trustee of The Brooklyn Academy of the Arts, Board President of the Usdan Center, Board President at Bronx House and on the corporate board of Merchants National Properties.
Chief Operating Officer
Mehul is responsible for leading the transformation of Midwood into an industry-leading investment,development, leasing and management platform. Prior to joining Midwood, Mehul was the Chief OperatingOﬃcer & Chief of Staﬀ at Empire State Development, New York State's real estate and economic development agency. Previously, Mehul was a Vice President of the Moynihan Station Development Corporation,where he worked with various public and private sector stakeholders to expand New York’s Penn Station. Prior to that, he was a Senior Project Manager at The Hudson Companies where he oversaw the development of J Condominium in DUMBO. Mehul received his Master’s Degree in Real Estate Development from Columbia University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and Urban Studies from Yale University.
Chief Financial Officer
Bryan is responsible for Midwood’s overall ﬁnancial operations, including active involvement in long-term capital planning, acquisitions and portfolio management. Prior to joining Midwood, Bryan was a Partner at Mercury Capital Advisors where he raised private institutional capital for real estate managers in the US and Asia.Previously, Bryan was a Director in Real Estate Investment Banking at Citi in New York and London, focused on executing M&A transactions and raising capital primarily for public REITs across various asset classes. Bryan started his career within Arthur Andersen’s Real Estate Audit Practice and then as the CFO of companies in the manufacturing and marketing sectors. Bryan is a Certiﬁed Public Accountant in New York and Massachusetts and received his MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Boston College.
Executive Vice President, Leasing
Ron is responsible for leasing across Midwood’s existing commercial portfolio of over 250 retail and oﬃce tenants as well as the leasing strategy for all new developments. Prior to joining Midwood, Ron was Senior Vice President of Leasing at Westﬁeld Corporation and oversaw the leasing program for the retail component at Westﬁeld World Trade Center. Before directing the WTC project, Ron spearheaded the leasing for Westﬁeld’s Northeast region of super-regional enclosed shopping centers. Previously, Ron was Senior Vice President of Leasing at the Macerich Company where he oversaw leasing for the company’s Western portfolio of 37 super-regional and regional mall assets in California and Arizona. Ron received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administrationfrom The George Washington University School of Business.
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management
Steven is responsible for managing Midwood’s existing portfolio of over 125 retail, residential and oﬃce properties across 9 states and the District of Columbia.Since joining Midwood 15 years ago, Steven’s additional responsibilities have also included commercial lease negotiations, various legal matters and system implementations. Prior to joining Midwood, Steven worked for Julian LeCraw & Company in Atlanta, GA where he was integrally involved in the renovation of thousands of apartments in the Atlanta region. Steven received his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the Kogod School of Business at American University.
Executive Vice President, Development
Jeﬀ is responsible for the planning, development,marketing and sales of Midwood’s entire development pipeline. Prior to joining Midwood, he was Head of Development for Kuafu Properties, a real estate development and investment ﬁrm with strong ties to Asian investors. Previously,Jeﬀ was the Senior Vice President for Development at Extell Development Company where he oversaw the development of over two million square feet of mixed used, residential and hospitality projects including ONE57, which features 94 ultra-luxury residences above a 210-key ﬂagship Park Hyatt Hotel and the Hyatt Times Square, a 487-key hotel located in the heart of Times Square. Jeﬀ received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Science with Departmental Honors from Northwestern University.
Senior Vice President & General Counsel
Michael is responsible for all Midwood’s legal matters including acquisitions, dispositions, ﬁnancings,partnerships, leases, contracts and insurance. Prior tojoining Midwood, Michael spent over ten years as anattorney with the real estate department of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver &Jacobson LLP where he represented some of the largest real estate ownersand developers in New York City. His practice advised on a wide range of complex commercial real estate and corporate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, ﬁnancing, leasing, development and partnerships. Michael received his J.D. from Stanford Law School and his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Vassar College.
Executive Vice President, Investments
Teodora is responsible for all aspects of Midwood’sinvestment strategy including sourcing, evaluating, andstructuring new acquisitions and long-term capitalplanning. Prior to joining Midwood, Teodora was a Senior Real Estate Consultant at Cushman & Wakeﬁeld where she focused on real estate optimization strategies for a broad range of clients such as the City of Toronto, Verizon and Mount Sinai Hospital. Previously, Teodora was a Senior Associate in the Economic and Valuation Consulting Services group at KPMG LLP. Teodora received her MBA from NYU’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting from Lehigh University’s College of Business and Economics.
